Support for young people and families
HOPE Charity Project provides early intervention emotional wellbeing support for young people aged 11 to 18 and their families.
Our approach is about more than individual sessions. We want families to feel part of a supportive community where young people can build confidence, develop coping strategies and make positive connections, while parents and carers can find support too.
We believe it takes a village to support a young person. Our aim is to help families build that village, so they feel less alone and better able to move forward.

How our support works
Every family begins with a free parent or carer consultation. This gives us an opportunity to understand what is happening, discuss the young person's needs and decide whether HOPE is the right service for the family.
If we are not the most appropriate service, we will provide information or onward signposting wherever possible. All support is subject to availability, suitability and an initial assessment.
The support we offer
Please see below for more about each type of support. Tap or click any heading to open it.
One-to-one sessions for young people
Individual emotional wellbeing support for young people aged 11 to 18, at £30 per one-hour session.
Six-session support plan: £180
Twelve-session support plan: £360
Families can choose a six-session or 12-session support plan, depending on the young person’s needs. We ask for six sessions to be paid in advance. Where paying for six sessions upfront would cause difficulty, we can accept payment for three sessions at a time.
Payment arrangements will always be explained clearly before support begins.
Support for parents and carers
Parents, carers or other family members can also access up to three individual support sessions alongside the child or young person’s support.
These sessions cost £30 per one-hour session.
Funded places for low-income families
We are committed to ensuring that financial circumstances do not prevent families from accessing support.
Families whose young person receives Pupil Premium or benefits-related Free School Meals may be eligible for funded support. Eligible families can receive up to 12 sessions, including individual and family sessions where appropriate.
Parents, carers or other family members in eligible low-income families can also receive up to three individual support sessions alongside the child or young person’s support at no cost. These sessions form part of the family’s overall allocation of up to 12 funded sessions.
We will ask to see evidence of eligibility. We will normally record that the evidence has been checked rather than retaining a copy. Funded places are subject to availability, suitability and confirmation of eligibility.
At the end of the agreed support period, we will review progress and provide appropriate onward signposting where needed.

Depending on individual needs and availability, young people may also be invited to join one of our supportive groups or creative activities. Participation in any group will depend on suitability, available spaces and the needs of the young person.
Cancellations and non-attendance
We understand that unexpected situations happen. However, regular cancellations make it difficult for us to support families effectively and prevent other young people from accessing appointments.
For paid support, we require at least 48 hours' notice of cancellation. Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice will normally be charged.
For funded support, support may end following three cancellations or missed appointments. Exceptional circumstances will always be considered fairly.
